In March 2019, my friends Perry and Thomas had recently gotten engaged, and I had the pleasure of taking their engagement photos in what would be my first engagement shoot and my third overall couple's shoot. It took literally 3 different tries to sync up our schedules, but we finally managed to find time to go to Papago Park and take some photos.
Perry and Thomas were great models. I didn't have to do much in terms of posing, because they were just flirting and naturally moving around each other. Occasionally I would switch up who was looking at the camera and who was looking at their partner, but for the most part I just allowed them to do what they wanted to do.
For some reason, the editing process for this batch of photos was a bit more stressful. This is definitely the first time I've had to think about editing in my style vs what I think they would actually like, or what I would like to think of as my "client" style vs my "creative" style.
For my "clients", I prefer a cool-toned look that's a bit safer, a bit more color-accurate, and definitely more widely appealing. For my creative style, I really like to add a film vibe to the photo. I don't know why, but it just speaks to me.
